In my kitchen is a brand new…
VITAMIX BLENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woo hoo! Yes!!!! Score!
Oh, I’ve been waiting so long for this. For those of you who are familiar with the Vitamix, you’ll understand why I’m yelling. And for those of you who don’t know the Vitamix, allow me to demonstrate…

Voilà! Homemade vanilla custard made entirely in the blender in 4 1/2 minutes! It actually cooks the eggs and everything. This thing is amazing. I’m in love. Sorry food processor, it’s over.
Also in my kitchen is…

Pink beer! Well, it’s not actually pink but it’s brewed with pink peppercorns and has a delicious, rich flavor. Made in Italy.
In my kitchen are some flours that I have been experimenting with…

There’s white rice flour, buckwheat and millet (love millet, by the way).
And I shall bake lots of goodies in these…

Mini cupcake wrappers. Who doesn’t love all things mini?
And finally, in my kitchen…

I have some sweet golden tomatoes. Mommy & baby.
That’s it for me. What about you? What’s in your kitchen this month? Thanks again to Celia for hosting this fun event. Head on over to fig jam and lime cordial if you’d like to play!

Great haul in your kitchen Emilie – the vitamix sounds amazing!!! I made vanilla custard last night and would have loved having your new kitchen equipment on hand!!
Oh, how funny! I can’t even tell you how amazing it is. And what a time saver! I’m just using it for everything now
I’ve just planted some tomato seeds…so far nothing as grand as your mother/baby has happened (in fact, nothing has happened at all)! Pink beer – I like that sound of that.
Thanks for stopping by! The mommy & baby tomatoes actually came from a farm share that I belong to. I didn’t grow any this year. Hopefully you will have some beautiful tomatoes when they’re ready! And yes, the pink beer was amazing
ooh – spicy beer – I love looking at those boutique beer bottles – we collected them for a while and then got too many and they had to go! Your blender looks fantastic and the flours sound like a great GF mix
Hi there,
Welcome to the site! Yes, the beer was amazing. It smelled and tasted spicy and rich. Did you see the pink cap? Too cute.
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Emilie,
I have a Vitamix (and I love it) so now I want to know how you made your custard.
Hi Glenda,
Ah, so you can relate to my new found blender bliss? I will be posting that vanilla custard recipe soon
Love the idea of making vanilla custard so easily! And those little cupcake wrappers are so pretty!
Thanks Lizzy! I was completely shocked at how quick and easy it was to make the vanilla custard. It’s fantastic. I will be posting the recipe soon!
Gah, I covet that blender! And red, too. Nice!
Thanks! I thought the red was nice too!
I have serious blender envy! Lucky you!
Thank you. I’m in love
Pink beer! With peppercorns! How intriguing! And the Vitamix sounds fantastic – does it go in the dishwasher? Super cute mini cupcake liners, and I’ve not tried millet or buckwheat flour, so thanks for the heads up! x
The beer was quite delicious, I must say. And yes, the blender can go in the dishwasher! It was also re-designed to fit under most kitchen cabinets as well, so that’s very convenient. The machine itself is amazing. I highly recommend!
You sold me on the Vitamix – custard in 4 1/2 minutes! Really interesting peep into your kitchen.
Thanks! I’m in the process of tweaking the recipe and will be posting shortly. Thanks for stopping by
I’ve always wanted one, but never at the same time when I could afford it.
And the yellow tomato mama and baby – love the yellow varieties- they are so mellow!
Thanks for sharing your kitchen!
Hi Heidi!
Oh, I know. The blender is definitely pricey and I would never buy it for myself. This one happened to be a gift so I lucked out. And those yellow tomatoes were the sweetest I’ve ever had! Thanks for visiting
is that custard recipe ready yet?:)
Hi there!
Here is the link to the vanilla custard recipe directly from the Vitamix website:
https://www.vitamix.com/Find-Recipes/V/A/Vanilla-Custard-Sauce
I would’ve posted it sooner but I have been tweaking it more to my liking! The Vitamix recipe is more like a sauce (creme anglaise), whereas I like mine a little thicker (more pudding like). I use the basic quantities in the link above, but swap the flour for 3 tbsp. of cornstarch, add 3 egg yolks instead of 1, and use only 1 1/2 cups of milk. If you don’t have a Vitamix, you can simply make this on the stove as well. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch
