in my kitchen…august

wild raspberries

Hello, August. Oh, how you’ve snuck up on me. Just one more month of blissful sun and then it’s back to chilly days. Here is a sneak peak at what’s left of my summer kitchen.

I’ll start with a handful of wild raspberries from the backyard (picture above). Sweet and tart, and about to be devoured by my Dillon.

Next up…..

coffee mugs

…lovely mugs from Anthropologie. They were a gift from my best friend.

In my kitchen…

greek honey

…is a jar of artisinal honey from Greece. I haven’t tried it yet. Can anyone read that label?

I also have…

champagne grapes

champagne grapes

ufo peaches

local ufo peaches

black mission figs

black mission figs from california

In my kitchen…

glass carafe

…is a glass carafe for salad dressings. If you read this, I dream about having a fridge stocked with homemade dressings in cute little jars. And now I have some! I have 4 to be exact. They’re actually quite small too, about 5 inches tall. The picture makes it seem giant.

Now that I have a carafe, I can pour my dressings on…

mesclun lettuce

…homegrown mesclun lettuce from the garden. Sorry rabbits.

And if you were actually in my kitchen, you’d ask to eat out of this…

yellow bowl

…my yellow ceramic bowl, also from Athropologie. Do you see the bird?

Well that’s it for my kitchen this month. Hope you enjoyed it. If you’re interested in showing what’s going on in your kitchen, head on over to fig jam and lime cordial to sign up.

  1. Beautiful bowls. We call your ufo peaches flat or doughnut peaches and I love them.
Thanks for visiting my blog – the chocolate cookies are from Bourke Street Bakery book and sausage rolls from Dan Lepard’s Short & Sweet.

Aren’t those peaches delicious? I love that they’re so tiny. They make great snacks. Thanks for stopping by!

I’m always drooling over the gorgeous bowls at Anthropologie, but have never bought any – I guess I’m worried they won’t survive the plane trip. Yours are absolutely beautiful, thanks for sharing them with us! Those figs look delicious, and I look forward to reading all about the dressings you make for those cute little carafes!

I’m always drooling over anthropologie’s kitchen stuff too. Every time I go in there just to ‘look’ I always come out with something. I think they should start paying me to shop there :)

    Hi Emilie
I love rasberries, you are so lucky. I also love your mugs and bowl.

  4. I love those cups and bowls! I wish we had an Anthropologie here! :)

Oh, I know. I could spend hours in that store (and I easily do…) buying up everything! Thanks for stopping by :)

I need one of those Anthropologie mugs- my husband just broke my favorite mug and I think he should replace it with one of those!
The fruit is beautiful – from raspberries to figs- and those champagne grapes are so little and flavorful- I love them with a good cheese and sourdough bread!
I really enjoyed your post- thanks for sharing!

Thank you Heidi! It’s so nice to have lots of fresh fruit in season. It will be winter before we know it! Aren’t those grapes cute? They would look good on a cheese board…with some of that homemade bread you baked from your kitchen :)
Hope you get a nice new mug!

  6. You have some beautiful things in your kitchen… those grapes look amazing!

    • theclevercarrot says:

Thanks Lizzy! Those grapes are amazing. They look great on a cheese platter and make the perfect snack for little kids. The season is short so we stock up while we can :)

  7. Mrs Mulberry says:

Oh Emilie, I am absolutley swooning over your beautiful post. The grapes, the figs – sheer heaven. Your photos are just so beautiful!! I can make out a few words on your Greek honey, I shall confer with the very fluent Mr K and get back to you an accurate translation!!!

    • theclevercarrot says:

You are too kind, thank you so much!
The fruit truly is delicious. We belong to a farm share where they send us tons of fruit, I can’t even keep up anymore! I had a feeling you might be able to translate that label. I’d love to know what it says :)

  8. Those bowls! All beautiful things break in my kitchen, and I would be so sad to see that happen to a bowl as beautiful as that, but I can admire it from afar… Oh and those raspberries look like a lovely treat.

      Hi there!
Welcome to the site! Yes, lots of things break in my kitchen too, especially with little kids running around. Gives us a good excuse to buy more. Thanks for stopping by :)
