In a previous life I lived in Syndey, Australia…on the beach. Oh, how lucky I was. In this life I often find myself online looking up ways to connect back to this beautiful place. Quantas, can you hear me? That’s how I stumbled upon the Aussie food blog, Fig Jam and Lime Cordial.
Celia, the author, is on a mission to make most of her family’s food from scratch. She also started a monthly post called ‘In My Kitchen’ where food bloggers can write all about the latest findings in their kitchen. I decided to join in on the fun.
So, without further ado-
In my kitchen is this lovely, vintage galvanized tin from Target. Currently it is home to my computer charger and the baby monitor, however I have big plans to use it for cookies and brownies.

In my kitchen is whole milk from Ronnybrook Farm. It’s the only milk I know that actually tastes like real milk. None of that ultra-pasteurized stuff here. Did I mention it comes in chocolate?

…also in my kitchen is an array of beautiful dishes and bowls from Portugal. I went back to the store 3 separate times and cleared them out. They were on sale. I’m obsessed.

…and then there’s my ceramic measuring spoons from Anthropologie. Sadly we lost the 1/2 tbsp. and the 1/4 tsp. to the hands of my 3 year old. You will be missed.

Standing proud, in my kitchen is my very first jar of homemade strawberry jam. Check out that label- Apparently, I still have handwriting like a 4th grader.

…and finally, the last item in my kitchen is a slightly worn business card from Sfoglia. One of the best authentic Italian eateries in NYC.

What about you? What’s in your kitchen?

Emilie, what a beautiful post! Thank you so much for sharing your kitchen with us! Absolutely love the Portuguese crockery – I have a real weakness for textured finishes. And the anthropologie spoons are beautiful – I’m sure they’d be great fun to use. Yummy looking milk in old fashioned glass bottles and you should be very proud of your strawberry jam!
Hi Celia,
Thank you so much for stopping by! I love anything with a textured finish too. Any excuse to buy some new dishes, right? I just started making jam, and your site has been such a wonderful resource. Thank you!
Wonderful photographs! Welcome to the group, I have enjoyed your kitchen tremendously. See you again next month!
Thank you for commenting. Glad to be apart of the group!
Hi Emilie, welcome!
You are so lucky to have access to real milk. I am sure you treasure it. I love your purchases from Portugal, especially the textured ones. I also love your measuring spoons, pity about the casualties.
Hi Glenda,
Thank you so much for commenting! I do treasure that milk! Most of the milk we get in our grocery stores is ultra-pasteurized, and although it makes the milk last longer (which sounds just wrong altogether) it kills the flavor. You can really taste the difference. How is the milk by you?
Emilie, I can only get homogenised supermarket stuff. You are so lucky.
I love your bowls, spoons, and those lovely strawberry jam tags!
Life in your kitchen this July looks pretty wonderful
Hi there,
Aren’t those jam tags cute? I got them at a local craft store. Too bad they’re not waterproof- they’re covered in smudge prints and strawberry stains!
Welcome to IMK! I love seeing what we are happiest to share in our kitchens each month. Celia is a genius!
The tin is great- I have a stash of them that I use for many different things- mainly cookies- but really they are so handy.
The spoons and dishes are beautiful- I would have cleaned the store out, too!
Celia definitely is a genius! I love taking a peek at what’s inside everyone’s kitchens. I can’t believe how many friendly people have stopped by to comment. Thank you so much!
I love your spoons. Plain and basic does the job just as well, but it’s good to have decorative sometimes.
I absolutely love those spoons too. I hang them on a little hook in my kitchen. Practical yet decorative!
I love seeing what everyone has in their kitchens, it satisfies the nosy in me! I love those white textured bowls! *steals them with her eyes*
I love seeing what everyone has in their kitchens as well. I think we’re all a little nosy at heart!
Oh wow I am in love with all your dishes! Well done on your first jar of jam. If your writing is that of a 4th grader then I have hardly learned to write!
Hi Emilie and welcome! Your strawberry jam is a beautiful colour! You have a lovely assortment of good things in your kitchen. I look forward to reading more of your posts.
Thank you so much Lizzy for your kind words!
I love the label on your strawberry jam
Oh, thank you so much! I love those labels too. They’re make great gift tags as well.
